About The Actors Project

Our Mission

Many families throughout Los Angeles county come from a low socioeconomic backgrounds and are not able to provide their children with programs or entertainment that will further their enrichment in the arts. With the support of elementary schools, we provide students with quality theatre productions that will encourage them to get invested in the arts! Our program focuses on building a dialogue between the teacher and student about the arts as our creative writers develop stories that engage both the imaginations of the young and old alike. We strive to create productions that build lasting impressions that will not only enlighten students to pursue further study in the theatrical arts but also show them a new form of entertainment.

Many theatre company's charge schools for their performances. Currently, especially in our current tough economy and budget cuts, many schools are not able to afford to bring cultural enriching activities to their schools. The Actors Project is proud to say that our school productions are FREE! Every student deserves to experience quality live theatre.

WE BELIEVE

  • We are part of a larger world and our theatre has a responsibility to illuminate connections, build bridges, celebrate diverse cultures, and illuminate a vision of theatre.
  • Theatre must encourage the power of imagination and critical thinking.
  • Our work should be rich with wonder, honesty, compassion, joy, humor and wisdom.
  • In professionalism and outstanding artistry in all our efforts.
  • To represent the cultural diversity of our extended community in who we are and what we do.
  • The arts are central to learning and that they delight, enlighten and enchant.
  • In reaching young audiences with innovative programs for education in theatre.
  • In a commiment to cultivating the next generation of theatre artists.
  • In making theatre more accessible to everyone.
